氧化铝粉是以工业氢氧化铝或工业氧化铝为原料，在适当的温度下煅烧成晶型稳定的α-型氧化铝产品；在常温下稳定，受热分解脱水生成氧化铝，以煅烧α-型氧化铝为原料，经过球磨制成的氧化铝微粉。氧化铝粉具有较高的熔点，出色的机械强度、硬度、高电阻率和导热性能。氧化铝粉与其它阻燃材料不同，它热解时不产生有毒和有腐蚀性气体，而且热解时吸热和放出水蒸气，使制品具有阻燃自熄性能，因而在塑料、橡胶等复合材料中添加本产品，不仅使产品具有阻燃消烟效果，而且抗漏电、耐电弧、耐磨性能增强。
氧化铝粉为白色疏松粉末，白度高，容重低；高纯超细氧化铝粉纯度99.99、99.999，具有活性好、纯度高、粒度分布集中、无硫含等特点，广泛应用于三基色荧光粉、YAG单晶、人造宝石、高压钠灯和长余辉荧光粉基体材料，及结构陶瓷、生物陶瓷、功能陶瓷等高科技领域，是新型材料中 材料之一。
